WINTER 2010-11               Entering Results – picture guide – click HERE

1         Overview

For this season at least you still send your match result cards to Keith, Sam or Jackie, and they will deal with any disputes you have re non-web related issues. As far as entering your results and using the website in general is concerned, then Laura Williams and Chris Iles are available to help you.

BOX 1: The clubs/teams/operating rules/leagues/divisions/fixtures and a whole host of players have been set up and the online system is ready.

BOX 2: Fixture secretaries, having agreed dates at the fixture meeting, can now update their fixture dates. We suggest that clubs amend their HOME dates only. However I am sure that some clubs would be more than happy to have some of their home fixture dates entered for them, as they have a lot of dates to amend.

The benefit of getting all the dates set up is that everyone can then see when their matches are, can print out lists, and there is no need to send your fixture lists out to other clubs.

BOX 3: HOME team captains, having taken details of match at the time, enter the full ‘rubber’ result of the match, as soon as possible after the match but within 3 days of the match.  This will automatically update the league tables etc.

Both captains, especially the AWAY captain should ensure that all the players who played in the match are available to be selected by the home team captain when entering the result.

If it proves impossible to select a player for any reason then use ‘unknown player’ and add player name in ‘comments’ box so that the organiser can then add it for you. Please also email said organiser so they know that action is required.

BOX 4: AWAY team captains ‘confirm’ the result. This is the equivalent of signing the card. This should be done within 6 days of the match being played.

BOX 5: The organiser checks matches and comments and take any action necessary.

Please don't change the password.

2         Online Results

Okay, let’s get going. Please see the online results process below showing you how to enter your match results on the LTA website. We have included rules about timings etc., and it would be a good idea to get used to these rules. However, this is only a trial so these rules won’t be adhered to this season.

AT THE MATCH: Home captain completes match card, both captains sign, and home captain sends off to the relevant organiser, as per usual. Both captains retain their own copy.

AT/AFTER THE MATCH

  • As the home team captain your responsibility is to enter the result (names, set scores and set winners) online, within 3 days of the match, by visiting this website:

  • As the away team captain your responsibility is to confirm the result; as you do when you sign the home team’s result card, within 6 days of the match. If you don’t agree with the result then don’t confirm it; you can challenge the result within the 6 day period. Either sort it out with the opposition captain or note your challenge in ‘comments’ box and email Laura/Chris (& Sam if Mixed). NB: As this is a trial these rules won’t be strictly adhered to.

YOUR LOGIN DETAILS are being sent to you separately.

The Login name and Password are unique to your club. Please distribute to trusted club officials only and DO NOT change the password

BOTH captains follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the website - http://lta.tournamentsoftware.com/member/login.aspx
  2. Type in ADLTA in ‘find tournament’ if necessary
  3. Type in your Login name and Password and click ‘Login’
  4. Select the league you want (ie ADLTA Winter League 2010-11)
  5. Click on the TEAMS tab
  6. Click on your team
  7. Click on MATCHES tab
  8. Click on ‘Modify next to the relevant match
  9. Proceed depending on HOME or AWAY

HOME team captain follows the steps below:

  1. If the date needs amending then click on ‘reschedule match’
  2. Click ‘Enter rubber results’    (see Q&A below)
  3. Read the instructions in the box carefully and enter the players and the results (If you need to add a player see Q&A below).  Once you are happy with the results click ‘Verify’
  4. On the next page read information in the box and click ‘Confirm’ if the result is correct (if you need to make alterations please click modify – note you may have limited scope).
  5. Now click on the red draw to see your new position in the table.

AWAY team captain follow the steps below:

  1. Check the result has been entered correctly.
  2. If so, click on ‘Confirm’.
  3. If you need to challenge the result, rather than ‘confirm’, click ‘add comment’ and enter details to allow the league organiser to deal with the problem.

3      *    QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

3.1      Why have we doubled the points per set?

The system doesn’t cater for half points so we have set it up to allocate 2 points per set to allow for a halved set.

3.2      Can players see how the teams are getting on?

Yes. You need a UserId to log into the system to enter (or confirm) a result, but anyone can go to the website and look at the results without the need to log in.

Just search for tournament ‘ADLTA’.

3.3      Which way round do we enter a score?

Home team scores must be entered first (e.g. an away win is recorded 5-7, 6-4, 3-6)

3.4      How do we record tie breaks?

Tiebreak scores are not recorded; just the games total (e.g. 7-6)

3.5      Can I change a match date?

Yes.  When you go in as if you are going to enter a result and will see a ‘reschedule match’ button. Click on this.

3.6       How do I enter the result if we play before the fixed date?

See above. First change the date.

3.7      What if a set is unfinished/unplayed?

Add the names of the players who played in it or would have played in it.

Select the result of  ‘unplayed no players’

If the actual score was tied when the set was halted then enter that, otherwise enter 5-5. This will allocate a drawn set and give each team a point. Then please use the comments box to record the real set score if it doesn’t match the score entered. These games may be important in the case of a countback.

3.8      What a player I want to select isn’t on the drop down list?

How it works:  You add a player to your club pool. From there you select that player from the club pool and add them into your team pool. From there you can select them for matches.

So, when you click on <select player> you will be shown a drop down list of all the players who are allocated to your team pool. The player you want may not show up, so you need to add them to your team pool from your club pool (if they are there).

So first of all let’s see if the system has them in your club pool.

Click ‘ADD PLAYER’ button.

A box will pop up with the club-list of players for you to choose from. This box will already have a ‘Select Players’ option highlighted and a list of players displayed.

Is the player you want in here?

If so, highlight the name and click ‘OK’.

This will add them to your team squad and so make them available for selection for the rubber, under the original <select player>option.

If they are not in the list then you may be able to add them. Just to the right of the ‘Select Players’ button is an ‘Add New Player’ button. Click on this.

You will be able to add a player if it is for the home team, but not the away team. If the player you wanted was from the away team you will need to use the ‘dummy player’ for this. Please then put the real name in the comments box and we can add it for you. If the player you want is a home tesm player then go ahead and add them. This adds them to the club-list. You will then need to select them for the team squad.  .

NB: You ought to be able to add players at any time but this season you have not been able to, other than when entering a result. We hope that the inability to do this will be with us by next season. In the meantime, if you know of any names which need adding, let Laura or Chris know.

3.9      What does the error message about gender mean (MIXED)?

In the Mixed league the Mens name should be entered above the Ladies. (sorry – it has to be one way or the other – I tossed a coin, honest).

3.10What if we are given (or give) a walkover?

If a team concedes the match then the match is awarded to the other team and the result is entered using the ‘Enter Team Result’ option as opposed to the ‘Enter Rubber Result’ option.  Please follow the process below:

1.       Follow steps 1-7 of the ‘BOTH’ captain’s process (above)

2.       Click ‘Enter Team Result’

3.       Enter the winner and the score as per your league rules, ie 6-0 sets

4.       Click ‘save’

5.       Put something in the comments box for the organiser

The HOME team is still responsible for entering this result.

If it is unclear, or in dispute, then do not enter result until the situation has been resolved by your usual contact.

3.11What if the match is abandoned?

If it needs to be replayed, don’t record the result on the website. Your fixture secretary will re-schedule the match as per usual and update the match fixture date.

3.12What is a member number?

A ‘British Tennis Membership number’ or BTM No..

To find a player’s British Tennis Membership number you can\use the player search function at www.lta.org.uk/Search/PlayerSearch/.

Players don’t require a BTM number to compete in our leagues but if you have one please use it. Otherwise the suggestion is to use Surname + Initial  + 01, eg NADALR01, NADALR02. This should only be required if you are entering new players during the course of entering a result.

Please don’t try and concoct a fake BTM No. one which looks like a real one, ie all numerics, as it will confuse the LTA’s main system.

Ideally, if you have a BTM No., we’d prefer you gave it to us to use, even if a dummy number has been used meantime. It makes it easier for us when setting up each season.

3.13Where did the UserId come from?

This is allocated by the LTA.

Any other questions, please contact your fixture secretary, or Chris or Laura
